Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment. Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening as happening. It’s the awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally. Mindfulness is all about staying calm, centred and attentive to the present moment.
How can we enhance our mindfulness?
How can we guard ourselves and our mind from the distractions of this world?
How can we give impeccable focus on the tasks we do?
How can we energise our mind?
Start your day with a prayer of gratitude, standing in the garden of your house, beside a floret, breathing the fragrance of the purge morning and take a few deep breaths to freshen up your mind. Close your eyes for a few minutes and dip your mind into the pool of meditation. Now come out from the pool with a pristine mind. Meditation is an excellent training for your mind, to reap in concentration and to sharpen the focus of your mind. Mindfulness generates a healthy mind sans fears, anxieties, stress and worries.
On a clear, bright sunny day take powerful magnifying glass and a stack of newspapers and go outside for an experiment. Hold the magnifying glass over a pile of crumpled pages. Even though you are magnifying the power of the sun’s rays through the glass lens, you will never start a fire – if you keep moving the glass.
But if you hold the magnifying glass still, allowing it to focus the rays in a concentrated beam of sun energy, you harness the power of the sun and multiply it through the lens – starting a fire.
Focusing also works with your power of thought! Try it and ignite your wandering ideas.
- Meditate for 5 minutes daily and enlist the progress you find within you after a fortnight.
- Name a creativity in which you get absolutely dissolved?
