Fresh thinking for better workplaces.
SEPTEMBER 2026 · VOL. 01 · THE LAUNCH EDITION
THE BIG QUESTION
Are your employees busy — or actually productive?
A calendar packed with meetings.
An inbox overflowing with emails.
Messages answered instantly.
Tasks being checked off one after another.
At first glance, all of this can look like productivity. Employees are active, responsive and constantly occupied. Work appears to be moving continuously.
But is it really productivity?
In today’s workplace, busyness is often mistaken for productivity. Being occupied throughout the day can create the impression that meaningful work is happening, but activity alone does not tell us whether employees or teams are actually creating valuable progress.
For leaders and HR professionals, the more important question is not:
“How much are our people doing?”
Instead, the question should be:
“How much meaningful progress is their work creating?”
This distinction is increasingly important for organizations that want to build productive, capable and engaged workplaces.
WELCOME TO WISDOM SPRINGS HR & WORKPLACE INSIGHTS
Welcome to the first edition of Wisdom Springs HR & Workplace Insights — a monthly bulletin bringing you practical ideas for building more capable, productive and engaged workplaces.
Each edition is designed around workplace questions, practical management ideas and people-development perspectives that can help organizations think differently about how work gets done.
The September edition begins with one important question:
Are we measuring busyness — or meaningful contribution?
Because a workplace can be full of activity while still lacking clarity, focus and meaningful progress.
